Wooden city is a hit or miss for me. I have dined here many times throughout the years and each time is different. The service in my experience has been especially disappointing. Oftentimes the hosts are quite rude upon arrival. Our last experience sitting at the bar was lovely! The bartender was super friendly. The food is pretty good overall. I like the burger and the wings, and their pepperoni pizza with honey is fantastic.

5 star service. 5 star ambiance. 5000 star food! We came here on a whim because it was close to a hotel we were staying at nearby, and it was super busy! We found space at the bar and I was thrilled they had a coconut porter available in June. It was great; and then we got the Bone Marrow to start. Now, any time this is on the menu, the place is probably fantastic, and it WAS. Just incredible with their toasted bread; there was also the option to add their sautéed onions or mustard. Amazing no matter how you have it. For my meal, I wanted everything, but my boyfriend and I actually just shared the Sausage & Mushroom Pizza. It was absolutely stellar! I am such a pizza snob being from NY, but it was thin and crispy and the toppings were flavorful and properly proportioned! Stellar. Just stellar.

If you haven't tried Wooden City in Tacoma yet, you're in for a treat! The wood-fired bone marrow appetizer is absolutely amazing - it just melts in your mouth. Their pizza has the perfect crust with that authentic wood-fired flavor, and the spicy lamb rigatoni is bold and flavorful. The cocktails are great too, especially the Prairie Line and Bramble. Wooden City has that perfect mix of classy and comfortable, making it a must-visit in Tacoma. Highly recommend!

A little crowded, but we came on a busy Sunday night. Still, the tables are pretty darn close to one another and feels like you're dining with whomever is seated next to you. That being said, our service was wonderful. The vibe is nice and inviting. And our food was really, really great. We will definitely be back!

Walked in for dinner. We opted to sit outside rather than wait for a table inside. It was kinda chilly, so they did provide us with a little heater- like a Mr Buddy, but it kept going out and we stopped bothering to get the waiter to relight. My chicken sandwich was really good! I liked the thin patty and the fries were also crispy and delicious. I asked for the mustard sauce on the side but ended up using the whole thing bc it was so good. Prices are kinda high, but the food was good.

Seriously this is one of my favorites for a nicer night out! You will not be disappointed. It is a popular spot so expect to wait if you're out during popular days of the week... highly recommend reservations, but they also take bar seating but this is also usually full. I honestly will eat anything and everything from here at any given time. I have always enjoyed everything I've ordered here. They do have regular items but also rotate a few items. Salmon toast.. amazing! Beet ravioli... amazing. Sturgeon with mushroom risotto.. amazing! Scallops were so fresh. Spicy lamb rigatoni was delicious.. perfect amount of heat with flavor. I was sad they were out of the bone marrow... but I'll definitely be back for that amongst other things. The service is always great. The ambiance is very date night vibes... darker lighting. They also have nice cocktails or various ciders and beers on tap as well.

Booked a reservation because it's a necessity if you want to eat here and not have to wait forever. We booked the Chef's table/bar. It is a small place and I can see if you just walked in you would be waiting. However it's worth it. The food was delicious and well prepared. Seasoned well, could have been a tad hotter as in temperature when it arrived as we were maybe 20-steps from the expediter. The portions were nice sized, and flavors spot on. I can say the Surf and Turf was a bit disappointing. The 6oz Filet was fatty, and hard to slice and chew. I had imagined an almost cut it with your fork and melt in your mouth but not anything close. The bone marrow appetizer was done well with the condiments offered being a good touch. Could have used two more pieces of toast. Our other dishes were good and hit the spot. Dessert of chocolate custard was a good choice as well. The service was not as attentive as you would think however the shining star was the Assistant Manager and a gentleman running food, setting up silverware and portion cups, filling water bottles etc. This would be 5-stars if not for the couple negatives. Would we return, yes.

Yowza!!! *the eye popping out* meme if I could add one! This restaurant is absolutely unsurpassed and my new #1 place to go in Tacoma. It's a medium to small sized restaurant, but has both indoor and outdoor seating. Not great for a party over 6-8, but I bet they could accommodate if you called. Reservations are a must, or go early and sit at the bar. We chose to sit at the bar and had the best experience! Our bartender Matt was phenomenal - he was funny, helped with food suggestions, made conversation, and was a total add to our whole experience! I'd go again just to sit and talk with him, plus his drinks were on point every time!!! Hubby and I wound up each getting our own app, splitting a 3rd, and then split dinner. All the food was in shareable portions and dinner was surprisingly large! I got the beet salad - it's was perfect dressed, fresh and light; a great way to kick things off. Hubs got the bone marrow which he said was more than he's ever seen a place offer. It came with bread and other a accoutrements. We then split the calamari which came with a dreamy sauce. For dinner we split the chicken schnitzel. OMG it melted in your mouth before you could chew! It was the best dinner I've had in a long time! It was great to share because the portion was huge. We finished the night off with an apple crisp that was great. The apples were warm, but not mushy and the crisp was perfectly portioned to the apples and ice cream. For the atmosphere, food and drink quality, popularity, ambiance... you whole get your monies worth! I will be returning many, many, many more times!!!!!

Came here on a Wednesday evening without reservations, so we got seated outside. It was pretty cold but they provided us with a heater that kept us plenty toasty. Service was pretty good. They checked up on us frequently and made sure everything was good. Food was 4/5. I enjoyed everything but my only complaint was everything had a hint of sweetness. A little too sweet for me. I'd come back again but definitely would recommend getting a reservation. Also, parking in downtown Tacoma SUCKS lol

I recently went out for a mom's night with one of my best friends and we decided on Wooden City. I've been trying to get in here forever, but it's a spot that you have to reserve a good amount of time ahead if you're not wanting to walk in - which I don't recommend. They're hoppin'! It's smaller than I expected, but it's a cozy and intimate vibe. Service throughout our entire experience was great as well. Naturally I checked out the menu ahead of time and knew I was going for the Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. It was absolutely delicious! The lamb had great flavor and was cooked perfectly, and the spicy vodka sauce was amazing. It wasn't too spicy, but had a great kick. Portion size was great. It was the first time in a long time that I finished my whole entree at a restaurant LOL. They have a great beverage list and I opted for a glass of white wine but then wanted a cocktail. My friend got an espresso martini but the bartender suggested it with TEQUILA... I wasn't super sold but I trusted his suggestion, and boy, I'm glad I did. Absolutely delicious and will definitely order like that again in the future! Don't knock it til you try it. Definitely a local gem and looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
